The journey through ancient Egypt starts in Cairo where you visit the following highlights:
- The last surviving of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World: The three Great Pyramids. Your Egyptologist guide can arrange for you to enter a pyramid and to see the excavated Solar Boat of the pharaoh. Next you see the guardian of the pyramids, the mysterious Sphinx.
- In the prominent Egyptian Museum, you walk between giant statues of gods and pharaohs and stand face to face with the golden mask of Tutanchamon.
A domestic flight takes you to the beautiful Aswan in southern Egypt, the starting point of your four-day luxury cruise on the Nile. Under the expert guidance of an Egyptologist you visit the following highlights:
- The magnificent temple of the goddess Isis on her small island of Aglika.
- A large obelisk still stuck in the bedrock provides insight into how the obelisks were fashioned. Still the question arises how the ancient Egyptians could transport and erect these huge obelisks.
- During a relaxing sailing trip in a traditional felucca you visit the tropical gardens on the island of Lord Kitchener.
- The cruise ship stops at the Temple of Kom Ombo dedicated to Sobek the crocodile and Haoeris the Elder. A Nile Meter and a temple with mummified crocodiles are part of the temple complex.
- An other stop during the cruise is at Edfu where you visit the best preserved temple of ancient Egypt, the great temple of the falcon god Horus.
After the boat reached Luxor, you visit the Valley of the Kings, the magnificent temple of the female pharaoh Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon which all are located on the west bank of the river. The temples dedicated to the gods are to be found on the east bank. At Kanrak you can wander through a forest of huge pillars and the Temple of Luxor reliefs show stories about the live of pharaohs in connection to the gods.
From Luxor the tour can be extended with one week beach holiday at the Red Sea.
